This is how I am spending my evening.

This is how I'll be spending tomorrow evening.

(Seriously. DVD ordered and everything. Jillian will have a great time whooping my wobbly ass into shape.)

My theory is, screw the fact that I'm carrying extra poundage, but let's at least make an effort to make it look like attractive poundage. I'm bored of having my belly rest on my crotch when I sit down.

In keeping with January's YOR, I'm still posting a pic a day on flickr. It's...a little unsettling, taking a pic of myself every day and staring at it trying to decide if I like it. Which of course, I don't, because I have a spotty chin, my eyebrows are fucked, and I often look stoned. Or, as someone else pointed out, worried.

Rabbit in headlights springs to mind.

But hey, it means I get my camera out. In last night's shoot I got my boobs out. But no, they don't make an appearance, because you know, I'm trying to keep it tasteful.

This will not last long.

I've also booked me a ticket to a photography show at the NEC, which is really surreal, especially as I booked myself as a photographer.

As in -

Name: Me

Address: Here

Occupation: Photographer (wtf?)

Company: Jay Mountford Photography (say what now?)

(I'm STILL working on my site. WordPress opens a can of Whoop-Ass on me every time I look at it.)

Unfortunately, I am not Hot (February YOR). What I am, is full of cold. So much FOF, I may have dribbled a little snot on Isaac's leg, and in Noah's hair today. You know when it's just so watery, and you don't move quick enough to catch it? It's kind of like that. I hate that. It's messy. So I kind of end up sitting around with a tissue wedged up my nose.

...hmm.

On reflection, that's definitely not hot.

BUT. I have managed to wear fucking sexy bras and various thongs/French knickers for the last week-ish. Which of course has leaded to no action at all, because all I want to do is sleep. But you know, there's been plenty of heavy breathing and stuff.

...while I sleep.

That's not to say, D does stuff to me while I sleep.

Because he doesn't.

...I think.

Look, you know what I mean.

Maybe I should just start working on March YOR, and let Jillian get on with a little ass-whoopin'. That's hot, right?

I got tagged recently, by Laura over at Are We Nearly There Yet Mummy. I don't often get tagged (ever) but I was quite flattered to be tagged for this one.

Now, as someone who's taken, like, a cajillion pictures over the last year alone, this felt near impossible. But on reflection, there's one picture that stands out for me an awful lot (at this point it's one picture, I suspect by the time I get to the end there may be more).

A fantastic company by the name of Olli and Lime do some GORGEOUS baby bits 'n' pieces; bedding, bibs, towels - all those accessories that you wish were matching but had a nice bit of "sass" to them, rather than traditional stuff.

I LOVE their stuff.

So when I got a changing mat and towel for Isaac, I couldn't help but snap some pics. And I have to say, this picture ALWAYS makes me smile.

Isaac very rarely laughs out loud, especially hysterically, but on this picture (and all the other ones I took at the same time) he was laughing like a crazy wild child. I also love this picture because it was one of the first to really inspire me to take a change in my direction in life, very much for the better.

It was pic snapped in less than a heartbeat, and somehow has changed an awful lot of my life in the last few months.

And if I could cheat and upload SEVERAL favourite photos, then I'd REALLY cheat and choose a COLLECTION of photos of Noah, leading up to his first birthday, every one of which is a favourite (turn your speakers on)...

Inspired by this, and this, and also this, I had a laugh and came up with this:

A super turbo faster-than-light-but-not-really car (you know I still haven't pushed that button?)

Some, uh, houses. With squiggly, uh, prettiness.

I couldn't make up my mind, but have now decided it's a cat, not a mouse. Or anything else.

Just in case you didn't know who I am.

When I tried to replicate this one, I, for reasons which will forever remain beyond me, tried to do it, indoors, in the lounge. Which resulted in me sending one torch flying. And then cracking the other torch on my elbow. And then on my head.

So I won't post that one just yet.

I mentioned a while ago that I was thinking about having a change in direction with my life. I had/have gotten so tired of being utterly shat upon in the music industry, which has been going on for some time. The ensembles I play with at the minute I really enjoy, mainly because there's no pressure, and they play for fun. There's little politics. I don't do well with politics. It's dull. So I like where I'm at.

Of course I won't give up the cello entirely, as I'm sure there are a few people who would like me to. But it's been a part of me for 24 years, so I'm not gonna say goodbye in a hurry. (Nyer nyer!) But it has to be said, even teaching is considerably dull to me now.

So I've had some other options. And as I'm sure you can already tell from the pointless babbling crap that was the previous two paragraphs, I'm still apprehensive/nervous/shitting myself astronomically about this "new path" I'm thinking about taking.

Ok...how about I start this way.

I'm thinking about doing more of this stuff.

And no, I don't mean having children and growing flowers, I mean photography. It's something a lot of people do, and also something that everyone seems to be. "These days, anyone with a camera is a photographer". I don't want to be anyone. I want to be someone.

It's nice when people say that my pictures are very nice, and the rest, but I want to know what my full potential is. I want to see how far I can go.

I've been inspired by several people, and though I don't think I could ever do the stuff they do, I'd like to think maybe possibly somehow I could possibly maybe perhaps have a little go. Possibly.

Any suggestions/tips/advice/reality checks welcome.

(He was watching "Cars".)

(Yes, on his own.)

(That bottom lip is gonna kill me one day.)

I am lame. So very lame at blogging. I confess to fobbing you off with a frightening picture of the little boy on Sunday (who is still doing that frightening thing, and regularly freaking out his parents).

Big boy has chicken pox. Again. Somehow. Like, he had it a few weeks ago. And having just come back from the doctors, have been told he has it again. He was as confused as I. And having had a fever of 38.6 all day, and putting him to bed without any fuss at all (he was like a limp noodle, barely able to lift his arms up to be picked up), he keeps crying out in his sleep every so often. In pain, I can only assume. I know they get ill, of course I know that, but it still sucks to see my super soldier really miserable and barely able to move.

Isaac is still being annoyingly cute. And I say annoyingly because I'm a little wary that when he's being a little nightmare, he's only going to have to dish out his winning smile and I'll turn to barfy mommy mush. He's still doing that crazy lifting his head up shit which leaves me a shaking wreck in the corner of the room, wondering what the hell is to come next. Incidentally, next to come was propping himself up on his elbows and pushing himself forwards in his cot with his feet. Yes, at 7 weeks, effectively shuffling forwards. On his front. So after that, we really ARE wondering what's next, especially if it looks like he's to follow his brother's footsteps.

7 week old show-down.

And the similarities don't end there either.

At least we know they're related.

And yeah, they are just as cute as each other.

Because pictures speak a thousand words.

I can't believe I forgot to post these, but I just wanted to showcase some more of the fantastic work from Darren, Anthony and co at Your Big Day.

I'm starting to feel kinda bad that my blog has turned into a bit of a whinge lately; so today, courtesy of my still awesome new camera (squeeeeeeee!), this mornings post is a heavy duty photo essay, on the finer points of things that are cute, cool, lovely, silly, funny and more, with some narration.

Enjoy...

Damn paci glued to his mouth and he still got cute smiles dammit.

Ahw!!

Man, that singe tear thing.

The first time we EVER got him to swim on
his back without screaming murder and kicking
the crap out of me.

"Mom!! MOOOOMMMM!!! HAAALLP!!"

"Now let's see, next is downward facing dog...
or was that upside down tv?"

Cuddles or wrestling, we're not quite sure.

"See momma? I can be gentle."

"I can also be crazy." (How BIG are those eyes??)

"Archie I just KNOW you wants a hug, yes?"

First time in the snow

"Woah!! This stuff is, er, cold."

"How ya like me now?" (he sucks
the "juice" out of baby wipes. I did
NOT teach him this.)

Wha...what? Another hug for me? Damn son,
you getting soft in your old age?

Frantic horse riding. Faster you rock him, the
more hysterical he laughs.

Bath times!! We loves.

"Aaaaa!!"

"Here dolphin, you need a shower."

"No mama, you must be mistaken.
This here is MY mobile phone."

He won't wear gloves on his hands.
But he'll wear socks. Hey, whatever
works, right?

He spent 10 minutes "talking" to
the snow on his swing.

Out in the Arctic, the intrepid explorer ventured
away from the security of his shelter into
unchartered territory...

...looking for only minimal help
and confirmation to go forth...

...and then fell over.

"I am sooooooo gonna be a skater,
check out these moves!"

"Hey daddad...what is this stuff anyways??"

Raspberry blowing competition. Noah won (by
a margin) for the extra fluids.

The fantastically cool men in my life.
